The installation is composed of 16 eight-foot-tall aluminum “trees” containing audio speakers, lights and photo-electric sensors placed in a 4 x 4 grid. As people touch the “trees”, they trigger an ever-changing score of melodic and environmental sounds. Depending on the time of the day, participants may also trigger pre-programmed sound patterns—a flock of frogs, crickets crawling through the open space, or a swarm of fireflies passing overhead at night, essentially provocative “sound images.”
